FAQs

What is special about Laundle sheets?

Traditional liquid detergent contains 60-80% water. When you’re buying liquids, you’re paying for mostly water, and the transportation of that water. Our process extracts the water, leaving behind a concentrated sheet of natural detergent.

We only use 4 ingredients that focusing on removing grime and dirt whilst leaving the fibers and fabrics in your clothes intact.

Many laundry detergent sheets claim to be sustainable and eco friendly but they often guilty of ‘Green Washing’. They use a variety of chemicals and allergens in their sheets so make sure to always read the label. In general the longer the ingredients list and the more words you don't recognise the more likely it is there are nasties lurking in there.

Since we removed the water from our strips they do not "go off" or require any preservatives or bleach to stop bacteria from spoiling them.

How many strips should you use?

- Small load = half strip (tear strip off and tear in half again)

- Regular load = 1 strip

- Large or very soiled load = 2 strips

Place the strips directly in the drum of your machine then your clothes. Traditional detergents could harm clothes if they come in contact with them due to the abrasive chemicals and cleaning agents but Laundle Strips were designed to be kind to your clothes whilst lifting off dirt and grime.

What are the ingredients?

  • Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate: main cleaning agent, removes grime by gently lifting it off fabrics
  • Fatty Alcohol Polyglycol Ether: Made from coconut, helps remove grease and forms the base of the sheet
  • Polyvinyl Alcohol: helps wrap and protect the sheet until it hits water
  • Deionised Water: water without minerals like salt. Helps the above work in cold water

Here is what is not in our sheets:

    • No palm oil
    • No gluten
    • No plastic
    • No chlorine bleach
    • No parabens (preservatives) or phosphates
    • No added dyes
    • No fluorescent whitening agent
    • No preservatives or heavy metals

      Do your sheets contain starch?

No. Unlike many other laundry detergent sheets on the market we do not use starch in our sheets as it does not contribute to the cleaning process and can leave residue on your machine.

What are eco-friendly laundry detergent sheets?

Eco-friendly laundry detergent sheets are innovative, environmentally conscious alternatives to traditional liquid or powder laundry detergents. Our sheets are made from all natural ingredients, mainly coconut.

      What does "Biodegradable" mean?

Our packaging is made from recycled plastic that is free from toxins and designed to break down the same way as, natural organic things do such as fruit or leaves. You can bury it in the ground and it will slowly become part of the ecosystem. Or better yet use it in your compost!

What makes plastic so bad for the environment?

Like that final guest at a party, plastic hangs around long after we wish it would disappear. There have been several "indestructable" products that have become problematic like asbestos, iron and teflon. They take a long time to break down and become either a volume problem, like the "great garbage patch" in the Pacific or they break down into "microparticles".

      What is a micro particle?

Microparticles are small pieces of hard to break down elements that can be mistaken as food by small ocean creatures. Once ingested, they continue up the food chain into larger mammals, and in some cases can even enter the human food chain. Since they are hard to breakdown they can accumulate and cause problems.

How do I use eco-friendly laundry detergent sheets?

Add the sheets in the drum then your clothes. This helps the sheets dissolve into the wash cycle.

You may find that you need two sheets for large loads. It is best to pretreat small stains to avoid trying to scrub the whole garment in the wash. See our guide to treating stains for more information.
